Education Center’s Student of the Month

Monday, May 25th, 2009

The Education Center is proud to introduce its newest feature- The Student of the Month.  Each month one of our instructors chooses one student to be featured.  The student is chosen based on how long they have been taking, their dedication and above all- their love of music!  Here are the past three Students of the Month:

February 2009

Instructor Jeanine Janus chose long time student Meridith Mason

Meridith Mason is a senior at Skyview High School.  She has been taking piano from Jeanine for ten years.  Meridith enjoys piano lessons because she likes visiting Jeanine every week.  Jeanine allows Meridith to play music from a variety of genres.

In addition to her piano lessons, Meridith also enjoys ballet and is a member of her church youth group, school choir, school math team and the Red Cross Club.

Jeanine chose Meridith as Student of the Month because she is one of her dearest and most dedicated students.  Jeanine says she has been blessed to have her as a student for ten years!

March 2009

Instructor Erick Hailstone chose Yida Wang as the Student of the Month.

Yida Wang attends Shahala Middle School.  She has been taking guitar lessons from Erick Hailstone for a year and a half.

Yida enjoys playing basketball and softball.  She plays clarinet in the school band as well as guitar on her own time.

She enjoys playing guitar because it’s a fun instrument and you can do a lot of different things.  Yida also enjoys the soloing aspect of guitar.

Erick chose Yida as the Student of the Month because she is very brigh and has great rhythm.  She is also a guick learner and practices regularly.

April 2009

Instructor Matt Bradley chose his first student at Beacock Music, Nick Boxer.

Nick has been taking guitar lessons from Matt Bradley for five years.  He plays guitar in a metal band, researches music theory and history and composes his own music as well.  In addition to guitar, Nick also plays viola, tuba, bass guitar and baritone ukulele.

Nick enjoys taking lessons from Matt because he always gives Nick great instruction on several aspects of the guitar.  Even after five years of lessons, Matt still has something new to teach Nick.  Everything that Nick knows about electric guitar, he learned from Matt Bradley.  Matt still surprises Nick with his knowledge of classical guitar.

Nick was Matt’s first student at Beacock Music and Matt says it’s been great teaching Nick for the past five years.  Nick has a great aptitude for music and tons of ability for the instrument.  Matt’s interests range from rock to classical and when Matt finds a student who enjoys the same, it’s always an enjoyable experience for both student and instructor.
