Education Center’s Student of the Month

Friday, June 5th, 2009

This month, the Education Center’s oboe instructor, Gerry Hofman chose the Student of the Month.

Spencer Nusbaum has been taking oboe lessons from Gerry Hofman for two years.  He currently attends Shahala Middle School as an 8th grader.

In addition to oboe, Spencer also plays clarinet and saxophone.  In his spare time, Spencer enjoys playing with pinball machines.

Spencer enjoys playing oboe because it has a neat sound and likes taking lessons from Gerry because he is a cool teacher.

Gerry chose Spencer as the Student of the Month because he is a quick learner and seems to enjoy the oboe.  Spencer is a great student to work with.

Garage Band Concert

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009

The Beacock Music Garage Band concert was held on Sunday, May 31st at 3:00pm in the Performance Hall.  This is the fourth year we have held this class, but the first time during the Spring.  There was a beginning and advanced class, and they both performed on the same day, making for a very packed house.  The beginning class played Free Falling, She, Pork and Beans, Should I Stay, Come Together and Knocking on Heavens Door.  The advanced class played Float On, Wind Cries Mary, Sweet Home Alabama, Everlong, Immigrant Song and Crazy Train.  Here are some pictures of the event:

Thank you to all of the students and parents that participated and attended!  We can’t for the next Garage Band this summer!
