This event is for all ages and abilities, and all musicians- not just clarinet players! Come be inspired!
David Shifrin, renowned clarinetist, will be at Beacock Music for his masterclass on Thursday, February 23rd at 4:00pm. The class will be held in our Recital Hall and is free to attend!
As part of this unique event, Mr. Shifrin will lead a public masterclass and answer questions in a lively Q&A session. This event will precede Mr. Shifrin's highly anticipated solo performances with The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra on February 25th and 26th.
David Shifrin has served as the Artistic Director of Chamber Music Northwest in Portland,
Oregon since 1981. Shifrin is also a member of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln
Center, and served as its artistic director from 1992 to 2004, touring extensively
throughout the US and appearing in several national television broadcasts on Live From
Lincoln Center. He has received three Grammy nominations, and is one of only two wind
players to have ever been awarded the Avery Fisher Prize. Mr. Shifrin has appeared with
orchestras throughout the world, and served as principal clarinetist with the Cleveland
Orchestra, American Symphony Orchestra, the Honolulu and Dallas symphonies, the Los
Angeles Chamber Orchestra and New York Chamber Symphony. David Shifrin joined the
faculty at the Yale School of Music in 1987. He has also served on the faculties of The
Juilliard School, University of Southern California, University of Michigan, Cleveland
Institute of Music and the University of Hawaii. In 2007 he was awarded an honorary
professorship at China's Central Conservatory in Beijing.
