Bass, Guitar, Drums, and Piano Instructor

Mark began studying electric bass at the age of 14. After specializing in classical upright bass under the instruction of Erik Anderson, Mark began playing professionally at the age of 18 in North Dakota, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Bass Performance through Minot State University. In the next stage of his education, Mark completed his Master of Music (Mmus) degree at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, studying primarily under John Van Lierop as well as with Tom Martin, retired principal bassist of the London Symphony Orchestra.

Mark has recently performed with such symphonies as the Black Hills Symphony Orchestra, Minot Symphony Orchestra, the Bismarck/Mandan Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland Symphony Orchestra, and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. He is currently the principal bassist for the Tualatin Valley Symphony and the Portland Choir and Orchestra here in Portland and has also performed with numerous rock, country, blues, and jazz ensembles.

Mark has been teaching music lessons since 2011 and has directed several masterclasses with high school orchestra string sections. He was also recently hired by the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland for the duration of his studies to teach bass lessons to beginning students. Lessons with Mark are offered for Bass, Guitar, Drums, and Piano.
