Richards Double Reeds have been made by Richard Rath for over thirty years. He began making reeds while studying with Dr. William T. Gower ( Gower Reeds ) and subsequently began making the Richards Reed.

As an active educator and performer, Mr. Rath is able to reflect the current trends of performance and instrument design, in the making of the Richards Reeds

• Hand Made - Each reed is  gouged, shaped and profiled in our shop to our exacting specifications.  
• Shape - The shape is designed to produce a well centered tone and stable pitch.
• A - 440 - Each reed is made to play in tune on a  #2 bocal.
• Responsive - Richards Reeds are made to have a more even response throughout the full range of the instrument. 
• Finest materials - Only select tube cane is used in Richards Reeds.
